Norges idrettsforbund (NIF) og Norges Rugbyforbund (NRF) er nå i tett dialog om situasjonen i Norges Rugbyforbund. NIF støtter NRF i en igangsatt prosess med å avklare hvordan NRFs medlemsforpliktelser overfor World Rugby skal kunne overholdes. Opprettholdelse av den internasjonale tilknytningen til World Rugby er av avgjørende betydning for forbundet og NIf og må beskyttes. Samtidig er det ønskelig at eksisterende aktivitet under NRF fortsatt skal kunne utøves. Målet med prosessen er å foreta organisatoriske endringer i samsvar med de krav World Rugby har til sine nasjonale medlemsforbund, slik at NRF unngår en suspensjon fra World Rugby, samtidig som bredden av aktivitet under NRF kan fortsette.
NIF og NRF ber om medlemmenes forståelse for at dette på kort sikt har prioritet, og vil raskest mulig komme tilbake til medlemmene på de avklaringer som søkes.
Joint Statement from The Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic committee and Confederation of sport (NIF) And the Norwegian Rugby Federation (NRF):
NIF and NRF is in close co-operation and communication about the situation in the NRF. NIF are in support of the NRF in the process to clarify how their membership obligations to World Rugby can be followed and kept. Keeping the international membership to World Rugby is crucial for NRF and NIF and has to be protected. At the same time we wish existing activities to be played. The goal with the process is to undergo organisational changes that follows the membership obligations and demands that World Rugby has of their International Member Federations, so that NRF avoids suspension from World Rugby, and at the same time as other activities can may continue.
NIF and NRF asks all members for the understanding that this will be our short term focus, but we will get back to members on other questions and clarifications as soon as we can.
