Ladies National Team 2021

January 2020, National Team coach Viliame Tirikula committed himself to build a team “from scratch”.  He reflects, “I set off, up and down this country on the search for the best 12 to represent our Nation.

Through some peaceful early morning hours drives, snowy roads, snowstorm mountains, and wet rainy days and the pandemic.”

Thirty of the nations’ best players were selected as Elite Athletes in March 2021.  These players were permitted to train and play full contact rugby together.

“After a year and half process, the search has come to an end. Now, I can proudly say that I have found those players and I can finally call myself a National Coach with a TEAM”, says Viliame.

Final selection is always an emotional process.  Even as a “small” nation in rugby terms, we have a great strength and depth of skilful players.  All with great heart and dedication to rugby and to each other.
