Rugby League is a somewhat faster form of rugby that plays with 13 players for each team. In Norway rugby league has been since 2009. After several years of good development, we have high active for rugby league in large parts of the country.
THE GAME
Rugby league is played on a grass pitch (often known as the “Paddock”). Each team has 13 players on the pitch at one time, with 10 substitutions. This means that there are fewer players to cover a large playing surface, it becomes very physically demanding. In contrast to the UNION version of rugby; in league, there is no completion over the ball once a tackle is made, or through line outs etc. However, this means that the ball is in play for more time with less stoppage, 50 minutes out of the 80 on average.
